Git Bash

All things relating to the command line interface (CLI)

Getting started

Git Bash comes with the git install. If you don’t have git installed, download it from the git site.

Set-up

By default it will assume the email linked to your laptop. If the email associated with your Github account is not your PSRC email, use the commands below to change it.

In the git bash terminal type the following but using your own Github username and email linked to Github:

git config --global user.name "myusername" git config --global user.email myemail@gmail.com

To verify that the changes have been made:

git config --list

While pushing for the first time, the terminal will ask for username and password. If you have previously generated a personal token, the personal token should be used in lieu of your password.
